"In today's standards, this reverse is a good starting point to create your foundation. You want to approach the lip fairly horizontal because the more vertical you go on the end section the more likely you are to go out the back of the wave because it just takes longer to get the board around and fins to the beach the more vertical you go.
When you hit the lip it's really important to really throw your back arm and shoulder forward while you turn your head to the beach so when your board leaves the water and gains speed, your body will be ready for it and stay centered.
